Hello and Welcome!
My name is Jacob, a husband to a wine-blogger wife, father to two bouncy-boy toddlers, and I'm the owner/author of My Personal Finance Journey. By day, I am a scientist working in bio-pharmaceutical development. Personal finance has been my hobby since 2007 when I started teaching myself through books (that finance B.S. degree didn't teach me much!). Learning how to save, adopt a frugal mindset, and invest my own money soundly has allowed me to have a savings rate > 50%, increase my net worth by > 20 times, grow my career, and always do what I love. I love this post! I am always on the wrong side of the coin when everyone blamed the banks for the mortgage meltdown, but I've always said that the banks never held a gun to people's heads and forced then to buy homes that they could not afford. What gets me are the people that WALK AWAY from homes they can pay for just because their homes are valued less than the mortgage. I want to kick them.
Thanks for commenting Sandy! You're the 2nd ever commentor with my new Intense Debate system. I like how people can now display their recent posts!
Those adjustable rate mortgages the banks handed out also were quite amazing! I don't think I would really feel comfortable with some of those packages!

Yeah, people not taking responsibilities for their own actions bother me as well. I'm not good friend with the bank or anything, but I always pay on time and when I made a mistake they usually forgive the fee. I had a couple of late fee on the credit card in the last 10 years and they were forgiven so I don't hold a big grudge against the bank.
Latisha really hates the banks though. 😉 http://retireby40.org/2011/03/greedy-banks/
