Hello and Welcome!
My name is Jacob, a husband to a wine-blogger wife, father to two bouncy-boy toddlers, and I'm the owner/author of My Personal Finance Journey. By day, I am a scientist working in bio-pharmaceutical development. Personal finance has been my hobby since 2007 when I started teaching myself through books (that finance B.S. degree didn't teach me much!). Learning how to save, adopt a frugal mindset, and invest my own money soundly has allowed me to have a savings rate > 50%, increase my net worth by > 20 times, grow my career, and always do what I love. Check out the About Me page to learn more!
How about you all? In your experience, do you feel people are taking fewer days off of work now because they are uncertain of their job?Â
Or, do they simply feel that taking a day off sick will put them behind even more in this fast-moving working environment?

As long as I know I am good with the company, I stay dedicated and keep on working despite my sickness. However, if I do not feel the motivation anymore, I always wish I am sick so that I do not need to report to work. LOL.

In this world of budget cuts to education, I feel somewhat insecure. I have accumulated 115 sick days. I normally do not take sick days and wanted to save them to extend my retirement service. By the time I retire in 5 years, I will be able to add a year service for retirement purposes.
That's really awesome krantcents! My mom works in education. I”m going to ask her to see if she can use her sick/vacation days that build up year-to-year to retire early. Might be possible! haha
